20 years later: the death of cult writer Hunter Thompson is being investigated again in the US

The death of Hunter S. Thompson, who wrote the novel “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” and is considered the founder of gonzo journalism, was ruled a suicide. But in Colorado, they decided to reopen the investigation.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation will conduct an investigation into the death of the famous journalist and author of the novel “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” Hunter S. Thompson, more than two decades after it was declared a suicide, writes CNN.

The CBI said that the investigation will take an “indefinite amount of time” and will provide updated information after its completion.

Recall that Hunter Thompson suffered from illness in recent years. He has repeatedly spoken about suicide and even described what should be done with his ashes after death. His son, wife, and son were in the house when he died, but they mistook the sound of the gunshot for the thump of a falling book. Thompson’s suicide note was later published, which read: “Football season is over.”
