A 12-foot (3.7-meter) gold statue of US President Donald Trump has been installed near the Capitol building in Washington. In its outstretched hand is a bitcoin.
The statue’s appearance coincided with the Federal Reserve’s decision to cut its key interest rate by a quarter point the day before, InvestingLive reports. The short-term rate was lowered to about 4.1% for the first time since December 2024 from 4.3%.

The temporary installation on 3rd Street, open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time, was funded by a group of cryptocurrency investors. Organizers said it was designed to provoke discussion about digital currency, monetary policy, and Washington’s role in financial markets.
Members of the group said the statue is a tribute to Trump’s open support for cryptocurrency.
