Alec Baldwin says he wants to retire after the Rust tragedy

Actor Alec Baldwin has said he is considering ending his career and would like to spend more time at home with his family. The 68-year-old actor said he has been working very little in the past few years and is used to this lifestyle.

“I’ve been home with my kids for three and a half years – working very little – and it’s only now that it’s starting to change. I’m still going to do different projects. But I’m used to being home, and I don’t want to leave it anymore. I don’t want to work anymore. I really don’t. I want to retire and stay home with my kids,” he said.

The actor’s career spans almost 50 years. Still, in 2021, it was overshadowed by an incident on the set of Rust, during which cameraman Galina Hutchins died. She was fatally wounded after being accidentally shot by a prop gun held by Baldwin.

After that, the actor was a defendant in a manslaughter case for almost three years. In December 2024, it was finally closed after prosecutors withdrew their appeal of the court’s decision. Baldwin himself called this period “very painful” and admitted that he spent a lot of time at home.

Together with his wife Hilaria, with whom he has been married since 2012, the actor is raising seven children. He also has an older daughter from his first marriage to actress Kim Basinger.
