Apple received more than $10 billion in commission revenue from the US App Store in 2024, more than double the 2020 figure ($4.76 billion), according to Appfigures. TechCrunch writes about it.
Financial indicators
Developers in the United States generated $33.68 billion in gross revenue through Apple’s payment system, receiving $23.57 billion after paying commissions. Globally, the App Store brought Apple $27.39 billion in commissions with a turnover of $91.3 million.
Court restrictions
A recent court ruling prohibited Apple from charging a 27% commission for transactions outside the App Store. The company tried to comply with court orders previously but continued to restrict developers and charges for external purchases, which caused additional attention to its policy.
