Apple has begun developing its own artificial intelligence chips, the Economic Daily News reports, citing sources.
According to the publication, the company is already working with semiconductor solutions provider Broadcom. Instead, they are working on creating Apple’s first own AI chip called Baltra.
According to the publication, Baltra will use TSMC’s 3-nanometer N3E process technology.
The chip technology is expected to be completed “in about a year,” and Apple’s main manufacturing partner will be the large Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn.
According to sources, the company needs to develop its own AI chip to further expand Apple Intelligence Services, Apple’s platform with various AI functions integrated into the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
