Apple officially kicked off its WWDC26 conference, introducing major operating system upgrades (iOS 27, macOS 27) built around an ecosystem-wide AI architecture called Apple Intelligence.
Here are the key announcements:
- The New Siri AI: powered by next-gen models, Siri now has deep screen awareness and personal context, allowing it to find information or take actions across multiple apps. It also gets a dedicated companion app syncing via iCloud. Due to regulatory issues, iPhone rollout in the EU will face initial delays.
- Smart Automation: new tools include Spatial Reframing in Photos to shift post-capture angles, an auto-password updater in the Passwords app, and autonomous Safari tab management.
- Accessibility & Home Upgrades: HomeKit cameras can now summarize video footage into short text updates, and VoiceOver uses the Action Button to describe a user’s real-world surroundings.
Developer betas are already available, with public releases launching in Fall 2026 for compatible hardware (iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 series, and newer).
