Bulgaria will officially adopt the euro as its currency from January 1, 2026. The European Parliament has adopted a decision to this effect. This was reported by the European Parliament’s press service.
This completes Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone as its 21st member, enabling the country to benefit from the EU’s single currency from next year.
It is noted that the transition to the euro opens up new opportunities for Bulgaria, as the EU’s single currency will promote deeper integration of the country into the European economy and provide several economic advantages.
One of the essential aspects of this transition is the establishment of a fixed exchange rate for the Bulgarian lev against the euro during the transition period. This decision will help ensure a smooth transition and avoid financial turmoil during the currency changeover.
The exchange rate will be 1.95583 levs per 1 euro.
