British singer Dua Lipa has initiated a lawsuit against Samsung in a California federal court, alleging unauthorized usage of her photograph for advertising purposes. According to Variety, an image captured backstage at the 2024 Austin City Limits Festival was featured on Samsung TV packaging distributed within the United States. Representatives for the artist emphasized that the photo was employed as part of a large-scale advertising campaign, creating the impression of official endorsement by Dua Lipa, despite the absence of any agreements or collaborations between the singer and Samsung. The lawsuit states that Dua Lipa was not informed of the use of her image, prompting her to seek $15 million in damages. Her team noted that after discovering the photo’s use, multiple demands were sent to Samsung to halt this practice, but these requests were ignored.
