Ex-One Direction singer Liam Payne dies

Liam Payne, the former lead singer of the British band One Direction, has died. He was only 31 years old. According to Western media reports, the singer died after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires.

According to sources, on the eve of the tragedy, the artist made a mess of things – he smashed a TV and a laptop in the lobby. Soon after the incident, the hotel manager called the police, reporting “aggressive behavior of a man who was probably under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” The police inspected Payne’s room. They found several packages with an unidentified substance.

Payne came to the Argentine capital to attend a concert by another former One Direction member, Niall Horan. Argentine authorities have launched an investigation into the case.

The singer became famous for participating in the reality show The X Factor and his subsequent joining of One Direction. His solo career started with the single Strip That Down in 2017, and his collaboration with Rita Ora For You, from the soundtrack to the movie Fifty Shades of Freedom, reached the top 10. The deceased is survived by a seven-year-old son from his relationship with singer Cheryl Cole.
