American actor Eric Dane, who became widely known for his roles in the TV series Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, has died at the age of 53 after battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Eric Dane learned of his diagnosis last year after noticing the first alarming symptoms, including weakness in his arm. Despite the illness, Dane continued to work on the set. However, the disease progressed rapidly and noticeably changed the actor’s condition. By June 2025, he had completely lost the function of his right arm; in the fall, he practically lost the ability to speak, and since October, he had been forced to move in a wheelchair.
The actor is survived by his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, and his two daughters, 16-year-old Billie and 14-year-old Georgia.
