Recently, Sotheby’s completed an auction organized as part of Paris Fashion Week. Among the lots presented was an original Hermès bag created for singer and actress Jane Birkin in 1984.
The iconic accessory was expected to sell for hundreds of thousands of euros. In the end, the price of the bag, including commission, exceeded all expectations. The iconic item went under the hammer for €8.6 million.
The new owner of the bag is a private collector from Japan. The auction lasted a total of 13.5 minutes.
