Joe Biden sold the rights to his memoirs for $10 million

Former US President Joe Biden has signed a deal to publish his memoirs. According to The Wall Street Journal, the 82-year-old politician sold the rights to a book about his life to the well-known American publishing house Hachette Book Group for $10 million.

However, the timing of its writing and release will depend on the former president’s health, as Biden was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, which is bound to affect his work on the memoir. The publisher has not yet announced even an approximate publication date.

It is also noteworthy that although the deal is impressive in terms of the amount, it still falls short of the royalties of some of the politician’s predecessors. For example, Barack Obama’s family sold the rights to publish his memoirs for $60 million, and Bill Clinton received $15 million for his book My Life.

Incidentally, the upcoming biography will be Biden’s second book. In 2017, he released his memoir Promise Me, Dad, in which he recounted his son Beau’s brutal battle with cancer.
