The singer Lana Del Rey has recorded the official soundtrack for the forthcoming James Bond video game, titled ‘007 First Light.’ The composition was created in collaboration with composer David Arnold, who has extensive experience composing music for the James Bond franchise.
The track is performed in a style characteristic of the series, with a restrained opening that transitions into a layered brass-and-string orchestration. It includes a segment of the classic Bond theme at the end of the chorus.
According to the project’s description, ‘007 First Light’ presents an original reimagined origin story of James Bond, portraying the character at 26 years old, at the outset of his espionage career.
In addition to Lana Del Rey, other renowned artists and actors are involved in the project. Lenny Kravitz will play the antagonist, Bauhma, while the role of young Bond will be portrayed by Patrick Gibson. The cast also includes Priyanga Burford (M), Lennie James (mentor John Greenway), Keira Lester (Moneypenny), Alistair Mackenzie (Q), Gemma Chan (Dr. Selina Tan), and Noemie Nakai (Miss Roth).
The game’s initial release was scheduled for March 27. Still, in December, the date was postponed to May 27 to allow for further refinements. The game is being developed by IO Interactive, known for the ‘Hitman’ series.
For Lana Del Rey, this marks her first musical project following a significant hiatus since the release of her last album in 2023.
