The Lego brand plans to release a model of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona. According to a leak, the designer will be the largest in terms of the number of parts in the company’s history.
This is a set within the Architecture series.
According to an insider, the model of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, designed by architect Antoni Gaudí, will consist of 12,060 parts. This will allow the designer to surpass the current record holder – the Art World Map set (11,695 parts).
The company has not yet announced an official launch date. At the same time, according to available information, the release may be timed to coincide with the completion of the Sagrada Familia, expected this year, as well as the 100th anniversary of Gaudí’s death.
Construction of the temple, which the Catalan architect conceived as the main cathedral of Barcelona, began in 1882. After more than 140 years of work, it is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
The Sagrada Familia has 18 towers, including the central one, which is 170 meters high. This makes it the tallest cathedral in the world.
The new set is expected to be the next in the Architecture series, which Lego launched in 2008 with models of the Sears Tower and the John Hancock Center skyscrapers.
Other buildings recreated in Lego sets include the Empire State Building in New York, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and the Eiffel Tower.
