A charity auction featuring the personal belongings of the late actor Matthew Perry, best known for his role in the TV series “Friends,” is scheduled for this June. Organized by Heritage Auctions in collaboration with the Matthew Perry Foundation, a foundation dedicated to supporting individuals struggling with addiction, the auction will commence on June 5, with all proceeds directed toward treatment and rehabilitation programs.
The auction will include the sale of 26 script episodes from the series, including scripts for “The One Where Ross is Tan,” “The One Where Joey Speaks French,” and the final two-part episode “The Last One.” Additionally, two scripts signed by Matthew Perry and other main cast members—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer—contributed by Warner Bros., will be featured among the lots.
Other items include a photo album from the episode “The One with the Last Supper,” accompanied by a letter from “Jenny”; a replica of the yellow Peephole Door Frame from Monica’s apartment; and the 1995 SAG Award presented to the ensemble cast of “Friends.” A significant selection from Matthew Perry’s personal art collection, including works by Banksy and Mel Bochner, will also be up for auction.
Preliminary bidding is now open, and the items will be on display at the Heritage Auctions showroom in Beverly Hills from May 18 to 29. The main auction will take place on June 5 in Dallas and will also be available online.
To recap, Matthew Perry faced prolonged struggles with alcohol and drug addiction. The actor passed away on October 28, 2023, at his Los Angeles residence; the post-mortem report attributed the cause of death to acute ketamine intoxication. In connection with this case, a woman known as the “Ketamine Queen” was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the United States for the illegal distribution of the drug.
