Elon Musk’s company xAI has unveiled a new artificial intelligence model called Grok 4 and announced a new monthly AI subscription costing $300, according to TechCrunch.
xAI has released two models: Grok 4 and Grok 4 Heavy. The latter is a “multi-agent version” and offers increased performance.
“In terms of academic questions, Grok 4 is better than a PhD level in all subjects, without exception. Sometimes it may lack common sense, it has not yet invented new technologies or discovered new physics, but it is only a matter of time,” Musk said at the presentation.
He explained that Grok 4 Heavy launches several agents to work on a problem simultaneously. Then they compare their work “like a study group” to find the best answer.
The company also launched its most expensive artificial intelligence subscription plan, which costs $300 per month. Subscribers will receive early access to Grok 4 Heavy, as well as future new features and products that the company introduces.
The subscription is similar to those offered by OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. Still, xAI’s offering is the most expensive among the major AI providers.
The company is releasing Grok 4 through its API programming interface to encourage developers to create applications using this model.
The latest artificial intelligence model from xAI is expected to compete with OpenAI’s GPT-5, which is anticipated to launch this summer.
