NASA wears PRADA: brand presents clothes for astronauts

Italian fashion house Prada has unveiled a line of underwear that NASA astronauts will wear on future flights to the moon. The move underscores the famous brand’s desire to become the first major player in the luxury sector to enter the space industry, Reuters reports.

The tight-fitting suit was created in partnership with Axiom Space, a Houston-based developer of space infrastructure. The main feature of the equipment is knitted ventilation tubes.

“We really have a wide range of capabilities and know-how,” said Prada’s marketing director Lorenzo Bertelli during an event at the brand’s Manhattan store, sitting next to a mannequin wearing the new LCVG (Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment) suit.

The new development follows Prada’s major debut in space fashion in 2024, when the brand unveiled a spacesuit expected to be used for NASA’s planned 2028 Artemis 4 moon landing.

Prada’s move comes amid a general downturn in the luxury goods sector. After two years of contraction, the industry was showing signs of stabilizing. But the situation worsened when the war in Iran broke out in late February 2026, disrupting travel logistics and severely impacting luxury spending far beyond the Middle East.
