Netflix is preparing a series about "Scooby-Doo" - filming will start in 2026

Netflix plans to start filming a new series based on “Scooby-Doo” in April 2026.

According to Production Weekly, the project has the working title “Scooby-Doo: Origins”, but the streaming platform has not yet officially confirmed it. The upcoming series is conceived as a story of the formation of the detective team Mystery Incorporated and is oriented in mood to the “Weird Wonders” format.

The events of the series will unfold during the last summer at the camp, Camp Ruby-Spears. The story centers on old friends Shaggy and Daphne, who take on the investigation of the disappearance of a Great Dane puppy. According to the plot, the animal may have witnessed a supernatural murder. The investigation is joined by pragmatic, rational local resident Velma and a mysterious but attractive newcomer, Fred.

The series will feature all the franchise’s key characters: Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo. Casting has not yet been announced, but the creators are looking for actors aged 14 to 17. The project will consist of eight episodes.

Warner Bros. Television and Netflix are producing it. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are the showrunners, and Greg Berlanti is among the executive producers.

Filming will take place in Atlanta, where “The Stranger Things” was previously filmed, and will continue until the summer of 2026. The series premiere is not expected before 2027.
