Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has written a memoir about his 20 days behind bars. The 216-page book, titled “A Prisoner’s Diary,” will be published on December 10, The Guardian reports.
In it, the 70-year-old politician describes the 20 days he spent in La Santé prison. According to the former president, his time in prison was psychologically exhausting. The former prisoner also admitted that he refused to eat prison food, fearing it might be spoiled.
As we will recall, Sarkozy was sentenced to five years in prison, but was later released by an appeals court. He became the first head of state of a member state of the European Union to serve time in prison.
