OpenAI is preparing to release a new artificial intelligence model, GPT-5

The American company OpenAI is preparing to release the next version of the generative artificial intelligence model ChatGPT in the coming months. This was reported by Business Insider on March 19, citing sources.

The sources said the company plans to release GPT-5 sometime in the middle of the year, most likely in the summer. Some enterprise customers have recently received demos of the latest model and related ChatGPT enhancements.

An unnamed CEO who recently saw a version of GPT-5 said it was “perfect, even significantly better.”

He said OpenAI demonstrated the new model with data use cases unique to the company. He also talked about other yet-to-be-revealed features of the model, such as the ability to call on AI agents developed by OpenAI to perform tasks autonomously.

The company still needs to set a release date for the new model, meaning that current internal expectations for its release could change.

OpenAI is still training the GPT-5, according to an interviewee. It will be tested for security once the training is complete. According to one of the interlocutors, there is no specific timeframe for testing, so this process could delay any release date.
