OpenAI is working on creating a competitor to social network X

OpenAI to launch the latest AI model, Orion

OpenAI is working on a social network that could become a competitor to Elon Musk’s X.

The Verge writes about it, citing sources.

Although the project is still in the early stages, an internal prototype focused on image generation is already in ChatGPT, which has a social feed. According to the sources, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman privately asks outsiders for project feedback.

It is unknown whether OpenAI plans to release the social network as a separate app or integrate it into ChatGPT, which became the most downloaded app worldwide last month.

The launch of a social network in or around ChatGPT is likely to intensify Altman’s already fierce rivalry with Elon Musk. OpenAI has filed a counterclaim against Musk, accusing him of harassment. The entry into the social media market also puts OpenAI on a collision course with Meta, which plans to add a social feed to a future standalone app for its AI assistant.

According to The Verge, the social network will provide OpenAI with its own unique real-time data, which X and Meta already use to train their AI models.
