OpenAI unveils its own web browser, ChatGPT Atlas

OpenAI to launch the latest AI model, Orion

OpenAI has unveiled its new AI-powered web browser, ChatGPT Atlas. The company said Atlas’ key differentiator is that it’s built on top of its ChatGPT generative chatbot.

This means users will be able to access ChatGPT to create resumes, ask questions, and complete tasks while navigating any page on the web.

The launch of Atlas puts OpenAI in direct competition with Google and Perplexity AI, which are both battling to attract users and gain market share with their own browser offerings.

Perplexity released its Comet browser for free earlier this month, and Google built the Gemini model into its Chrome browser in September.

Shares of Alphabet, Google’s parent company, fell about 3% after OpenAI’s announcement.

ChatGPT Atlas is available to macOS users worldwide. OpenAI also said that an interface for Windows, iOS, and Android will soon be available.
