The winners of the 96th Academy Awards have been announced. For the fourth time, comedian Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event.
The ceremony was without surprises and scandals. The winner was Christopher Nolan’s biopic Oppenheimer, which won seven awards, including prizes for best film, directing, and acting. Yorgos Lanthimos’s steampunk madness The Poor Wretched won four statuettes and brought Emma Stone her second Oscar in her career. Jonathan Glazer’s Area of Interest won Best International Film.
The Ukrainian film 20 Days in Mariupol was nominated for Best Documentary at this year’s Oscars for the first time in history. The documentary, directed by Mstislav Chernov, became the third Ukrainian film to be nominated for an Academy Award in the 96 years of its existence.
