Pink Floyd has released an official video for the song, 50 years after its release

British rock band Pink Floyd has released the official video for the 1975 song “Wish You Were Here”. The video was released to mark the 50th anniversary of the album of the same name.

In early December, the album “Wish You Were Here” was reissued in physical and digital formats, and the video release became part of the anniversary program.

The video sequence is built as a visual collage. It begins with frames of the moon, after which symbolic and surreal images appear – an eye on fire, abstract animation fragments, a figure that seems to move through time and space. Then the viewer sees archival and chamber scenes with the band members – filming in the studio, as well as episodes of them running through the subway station, which creates a feeling of nostalgia and personal memory.

The reissue of Wish You Were Here topped the Official Albums Chart in the UK on Christmas Eve, the same as the original release half a century ago. This gave Pink Floyd the record for the longest gap between their first and last number-one albums, at 2,620 weeks, or over 50 years.

This is the band’s second release this year to top the UK charts, the previous number-one being the reissue of the live album Pink Floyd at Pompeii.

In addition to the music releases, the band has also launched a series of pop-up shops in the UK, Europe, and the US, selling exclusive merchandise to mark the anniversary of Wish You Were Here.
