American conservative podcast host, political activist, and Donald Trump supporter Charlie Kirk died after being shot during a speech at the University of Utah. This was announced by the US president on the social network Truth Social.
“The great, even legendary Charlie Kirk has died. No one in the United States understood and cared for young people better than Charlie. He was loved and respected by EVERYONE, especially me, and now he is no longer with us. Melania and I extend our condolences to his beautiful wife, Erica, and his family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump wrote.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested a suspect in the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk. This was announced by FBI Director Kash Patel.
He thanked the Utah state authorities for assisting law enforcement in the arrest.
About an hour and a half later, the FBI director said that the suspected attacker had been released after questioning.
“Our investigation is ongoing, and we will continue to release information to ensure transparency,” Patel said.
Charlie Kirk is a 31-year-old American political activist and head of the leading conservative youth organization Turning Point USA. The attacker shot Kirk during his speech from a neighboring building, from a distance of about 180 meters. Flags were lowered at the White House in memory of the activist.
