Exclusive Interview with Dr Monika Toth — Psychologist, Coach-Therapist, and VIP Matchmaker at SEI Club

In an age where technology dominates the search for connection, Monika, an elite psychologist-turned-matchmaker at SEI Club, stands out as a rare force of empathy and insight. Known for her work with some of the world’s most private and successful individuals, she approaches matchmaking not as a transaction, but as a journey of self-discovery, emotional growth, and genuine human connection. In this exclusive interview for ELLEDGY Magazine, Monika shares her philosophy on conscious relationships, the psychology behind true compatibility, and how SEI Club is redefining luxury matchmaking in Dubai and beyond.

Monika, tell us about your path — how did you become a VIP matchmaker, and what attracted you to working with SEI Club?

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would one day become a VIP matchmaker. When I came across the opportunity, something inside me stirred. I remember thinking, if this role is truly meant for me, then I will give it everything I have and become the best matchmaker I can be. That’s exactly what I did. I put not only my professional experience and expertise into it, but also my heart and soul.

As a psychologist, I’ve spent many years working with people, guiding them through challenges, and helping them gain clarity in their personal and professional lives. Even from a young age, people naturally opened up to me, trusting me with their stories, their hopes, and sometimes their pain. Somehow, I’ve always had the ability to see what lies beneath the surface, identify patterns, and offer perspectives that lead to eloquent, and sometimes life-changing, breakthroughs.

What drew me to SEI Club is its philosophy of deep, conscious connections. For me, matchmaking is not just about creating couples by matching two individuals; it’s about helping people become happier and more whole within themselves, and then guiding them toward finding someone who matches that energy. It’s about offering people the chance to experience self-discovery, personal growth, genuine connections, and true partnership. It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone find not just love, but the right kind of love — one that aligns with who they truly are and the life they want to build together.

I believe real love — including self-love — means acknowledging our flaws, being willing to work on them, and choosing growth, both as individuals and in partnerships. There’s nothing more fulfilling than watching someone evolve, heal, and open themselves up to love in the most authentic way.

You work with some of the most private and successful individuals globally. What are the most important qualities required to earn their trust?

In short: genuine care, active listening, and honesty.

I genuinely care for every person I work with — not because of what they’ve achieved or the power they hold, but for who they are at their core. Everyone is unique and deserves a personalized, thoughtful approach. That’s why I take the time to truly understand my clients — not just their preferences, but their values, vulnerabilities, and emotional landscapes.

Honesty is equally essential. Earning trust means being willing to say what needs to be said, even if it’s not always what someone wants to hear. But I believe honesty can be delivered with kindness and respect. When shared in a thoughtful, caring way, it can help someone see what’s missing or what could be strengthened — and by this, I do not mean criticism, but an invitation to growth.

I listen without judgment, but I’m also not afraid to offer my professional insight if I believe it will serve my client’s happiness and fulfillment. I’m proud to say that many of my clients have become true friends.

And lastly, I recognize how precious time is, especially for high-performing, high-profile individuals. Matchmaking, when done well, protects that time. It allows clients to focus on what matters most while I ensure the connections they pursue are truly aligned with who they are and what they seek.

Why did SEI Club choose to expand into Dubai, and how do you see the matchmaking landscape evolving in this region?

SEI Club’s expansion into Dubai was a natural evolution for a global matchmaking service that caters to the world’s most accomplished and discreet individuals. Dubai is a dynamic, cosmopolitan city that attracts an elite, international population — high-net-worth professionals, entrepreneurs, and visionaries — many of whom align perfectly with SEI Club’s membership profile.

The city’s dating landscape is both unique and challenging: as of recent statistics, men outnumber women by a ratio of approximately 3 to 1, with around 69% of the population being male and just 31% female. This demographic imbalance, combined with the fast-paced, high-achieving lifestyle of many residents, has created a growing demand for a more intentional, high-quality approach to dating.

In this environment, traditional methods often fall short. That’s where SEI Club steps in with a psychology-based, highly personalized process that saves time, protects privacy, and nurtures genuine connections. Our expansion into Dubai reflects our commitment to serving an international clientele while tailoring our approach to the distinct cultural and demographic nuances of the region.

It’s also important to note that matchmaking is well-known and appreciated in this region — perhaps even more so than in other parts of the world. As matchmaking continues to evolve here, we see a clear shift toward depth, emotional compatibility, and long-term vision — values that SEI Club has championed from the start.

In an age dominated by dating apps, what makes the SEI Club approach so effective — and different?

Most importantly, the unique human touch. While apps rely heavily on algorithms and surface-level data, SEI Club takes the time to truly understand each client on a deeper, more meaningful level. This personalized, psychology-driven process ensures that matches align not just on paper, but in values, lifestyle, and emotional compatibility.

It’s a highly curated experience that saves time, protects emotional energy, and eliminates the trial-and-error fatigue so common in digital dating. Matchmaking is a process, and as with any meaningful journey, there will be some inevitable trial and error. It’s also a path of self-discovery, where clients not only meet others but also learn more about themselves along the way.

At SEI, you’re not swiping through profiles — you’re engaging in a process that respects your time, honors your individuality, and is designed to lead to something real and lasting. Furthermore, we offer a level of privacy, safety, and discretion that apps simply cannot match — something especially crucial for high-profile individuals.

Can you share a story of a particularly meaningful match you helped create — one that reaffirmed your belief in your work?

I’m fortunate to say that I’ve been part of many beautiful relationships, but if I had to choose, two stories stand out for how differently they unfolded and affected me — yet both reaffirmed why I love what I do.

One of them involved a gentleman I had been working with for some time. He had experienced several ups and downs in life and in his search for the right person, but he never gave up. He remained hopeful, open, and committed to the process. At SEI Club, we receive applications every day. One day, while reviewing profiles with a colleague, she came across a woman she was unsure about and asked for my opinion. Something in me just knew intuitively that this woman could be the perfect fit for my male client. We accepted her application, I personally conducted her consultation and introduced them. They’ve been happy together ever since. I still remember what he said to me months after meeting her: “Being with her feels like finally coming home, and it’s a pretty difficult feeling to describe. An old Japanese proverb says, ‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step.’ And just like this, good things take time.”

The other story that stays with me involved another couple I introduced. Both amazing people, and I can proudly say I am friends with both. I’ll never forget the weekend my partner and I spent with them, just the four of us. One evening at dinner, I looked across the table and saw them sitting close, holding hands, with that unmistakable spark in their eyes. It was pure, quiet joy — the kind of moment that warms your heart and stays with you forever. It reminded me that beyond the data and process, what we’re doing is profoundly human: helping people find their person.

What elements do you prioritize when evaluating compatibility — is it values, lifestyle, emotional intelligence, or something deeper?

All of these elements are undeniably important when it comes to compatibility, but what I truly prioritize are the things that lie beneath the surface. I strive to get to know my clients beyond their stated needs or wishes — to understand their real self, the part that often takes time, trust, and careful attention to reveal.

That’s why I invest in building a genuine relationship with each person I work with, rooted in honesty, loyalty, and mutual respect. This deeper connection allows me to see patterns, emotional dynamics, and unspoken desires that might not be obvious at first glance. It’s in those quiet, often overlooked places — past wounds, hopes for healing, subtle behavioral cues — where true compatibility begins to take shape.

Interestingly, I’ve found that differences in lifestyle, political views, or even religion can be overcome and become far less significant when there is a foundation of mutual respect. When two people are willing to understand and honor each other’s perspectives, and when they are anchored in emotional maturity and open communication, those differences often enrich the relationship rather than divide it. It’s the depth of connection and the shared willingness to grow together that ultimately defines a strong and lasting relationship.

From your experience, what are successful men and women truly looking for in a long-term partner, beyond surface-level attraction?

From my experience, successful men and women, regardless of their accomplishments or status, are ultimately looking for something very human: a true partner with whom they can share intimacy, trust, and a meaningful life.

Surface-level attraction plays a role — it’s part of that mysterious chemistry we all talk about. But while looks and status may draw people together initially, those things evolve or fade. What endures is genuine emotional connection — someone who truly sees you, accepts you as you are, and walks through life beside you.

When you strip away the external markers of success, what remains is the simple, universal longing to love and be loved. Both men and women are searching for that one person they can be vulnerable with — someone who brings joy, comfort, and shared meaning to their life.

How involved are you personally in the matchmaking process, and what does your typical client journey look like?

I am deeply involved in every step of the matchmaking process, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. From the very beginning, every potential client goes through a thorough screening and a personal interview, which I conduct through the lens of my psychological background. This allows me to understand not just what someone wants on the surface, but what they truly need to build a lasting relationship.

Once someone is accepted, the journey becomes a partnership. I provide coaching and guidance throughout, helping clients reflect on their expectations, patterns, and emotional readiness. I hold their hand until they find happiness — not just in love, but within themselves.

Because one of the core truths I believe in is this: you need to be at peace with yourself before you can create happiness with someone else. Matchmaking should never be a cry for someone to fix an internal void; it’s about building something real from a place of strength and self-awareness.

We also take logistics seriously. We arrange dates, gather and analyze feedback, and constantly refine the process to better suit everyone’s needs. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach — it’s a tailored, evolving journey that honors each person’s uniqueness. And throughout it all, I stay involved — not just as a matchmaker, but as a coach, confidante, friend, and advocate for their happiness.

Privacy is a cornerstone of SEI Club. How do you ensure discretion in a place like Dubai, where social circles often overlap?

Privacy is absolutely a cornerstone of SEI Club, and we take it incredibly seriously. Many of our clients are extremely high-status individuals — CEOs, public figures, royalty, and internationally recognized professionals. Therefore, maintaining discretion isn’t just a courtesy; it’s a non-negotiable standard.

To ensure this, every SEI Club member is bound by strict contractual confidentiality agreements. These obligations apply equally to all members, regardless of status or visibility, and are designed to create a safe space where individuals can explore connections without fear of exposure.

We’ve implemented a multi-layered, state-of-the-art privacy system: member data is encrypted, consultations and communications are never recorded or shared, and personal information is strictly compartmentalized — even within our own internal team — so that only essential personnel have access, and only when necessary.

In Dubai, where discretion is often more valuable than gold, we tailor our process to minimize public exposure. Introductions are done in private, secure settings, and even the timing and method of initial contact are customized to each client’s comfort level. Our goal is to create a space where clients can be fully themselves — open, vulnerable, and sincere — without the weight of external scrutiny. That kind of emotional safety is rare, and it’s exactly what makes our approach so trusted and effective.

You’re known not only for your professionalism but also for your elegance and poise. Do you offer image or confidence coaching as part of the journey?

Oh, thank you! You’re too kind. And yes, absolutely. Coaching is something I truly love and consider an essential part of life and the matchmaking journey as well. There’s a uniquely fulfilling feeling when a client tells me that just three weeks of coaching has taken them further than three years of therapy. Moments like that reaffirm the impact of this work in the most powerful way.

It’s beautiful to watch people evolve, to see them overcome personal obstacles and step into their most confident, authentic selves. I work closely with clients not just on how they present themselves outwardly, but on cultivating inner resilience, clarity, and emotional strength.

Sometimes that journey includes what I like to call a little “interior and exterior refurbishment,” whether that’s refining communication, body language, style, or simply how someone carries themselves. But it only works when there’s a genuine, intrinsic desire for growth and change. When someone is ready and willing, I’m fully invested in guiding and supporting that transformation. Confidence is magnetic, and I believe everyone has the potential to become the best version of themselves with the right encouragement, awareness, and care.

Are there upcoming events, private introductions, or curated experiences SEI Club is planning for Dubai-based clients?

Absolutely! SEI Club is always curating exclusive experiences for our Dubai-based clients. From elegant private introductions to intimate, invitation-only gatherings, we love creating opportunities for connection in beautifully tailored settings. While the details remain discreet, our members can certainly look forward to some truly special moments ahead.

Finally, how has working in the world of matchmaking influenced your own understanding of love, partnership, and human connection?

I must say, it has profoundly deepened my understanding of love, partnership, and human connection. Just like the members I work with, I’ve learned lessons that no textbook or university course could ever teach — about people, about relationships, and about myself. Every client brings a unique story, and through those stories, I’ve come to see love not as a formula, but as something deeply human, often imperfect, but always worthy of pursuit.

I can say with complete confidence that I’ve found my calling in this work. Helping people — whether it’s guiding them toward love, helping them grow in self-awareness, or supporting them through personal transformation — is the most fulfilling part of my life. There’s no greater reward than seeing someone I’ve worked with light up with confidence, step into a healthier version of themselves, or find the connection they’ve been longing for.

And I must add, I’m fortunate to walk this path with my own partner of 11 years. He has supported me through every step of this journey and continues to show me what true love and real partnership look like. So, when I speak about love, I’m not just preaching theory — I know from experience the depth, strength, and beauty of a real connection. That, too, shapes how I serve others.
