The film La Grazia (The Grace), directed by Italian director and screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino, will open the Venice International Film Festival at the end of August.
The world premiere of the film, starring Toni Servillo and Anna Ferzetti, will take place on Wednesday, August 27, in the Sala Grande.
Paolo Sorrentino is the screenwriter and director of La Grazia.
It is noted that very little is known about the film’s plot. Still, sources close to the film said that it tells the story of the last days of a fictional Italian presidency.
“I am very pleased that the 82nd Venice International Film Festival will open with Paolo Sorrentino’s new and long-awaited film,” said Venice Film Festival director Alberto Barbara, adding that Sorrentino’s career began in Venice in 2001 with his first feature film, One Man Up.
Sorrentino’s latest feature film, Parthenope, premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
