Unexpectedly for everyone, British actor Jude Law, star of the films “Exchange Vacation” and “Sherlock Holmes,” will play the role of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in a new film by French director Olivier Assayas, who previously won the Palme d’Or for “Personal Shopper.”
The Wizard of the Kremlin’s plot is reportedly based on Giuliano da Empoli’s book of the same name.
The story tells of Vadim Baranov, a political strategist and advisor to Putin. Rumor has it that the prototype of the main character was Vladislav Surkov, the former assistant to the president of the aggressor country. Jude Law will play a minor role, namely, the young Putin.
