The animated film Zootopia 2 has become the highest-grossing animated film in Hollywood history.
The film’s worldwide gross reached $1.7 billion, surpassing the previous record holder, Inside Out 2, which grossed $1.69 billion in 2024.
After achieving record-breaking figures, the film also entered the top ten most successful films in global box-office history, taking ninth place. It is second only to such films as Avatar, Titanic, The Avengers: Endgame, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
At the same time, despite the record within Hollywood, the highest-grossing animated film in world history remains the Chinese film Nezha 2, which collected $2.2 billion last year. The bulk of this collection fell on the distribution in China.
Zootopia 2 was released in November. According to estimates, the film’s production budget was about $150 million. The film is a sequel to the animated hit Zootopia, which was released in 2016.
