2026 Winter Olympics silver medalist in skiathlon Ebba Andersson smashed her medal after the awarding ceremony.
The incident took place at the Lago di Tesero ski stadium.
According to Andersson, after the medal presentation, she and Olympic champion Frida Karlsson decided to approach the fans. While moving, her medal fell into the snow.
For Andersson, these Games were the third in her Olympic career. The silver in skiathlon brought her her first individual medal at the Olympics. Previously, the 28-year-old Swedish skier climbed the podium twice as part of the 4×5 km relay team – in 2018 and 2022, where she won silver and bronze medals.
