The American Television Academy has officially released the list of nominees for the 78th Emmy Awards, often regarded as the television equivalent of the Oscars. The awards ceremony is scheduled for September 14th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with actress and producer Mariska Hargitay set to host.
The medical drama “Pitt” has received the most nominations, with 25, including Best Drama Series. Leading actor Noah Wyle is nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
Following closely is the final season of the comedy series “Hacks”, earning 24 nominations and setting a new record for the most nominations in a single season for a comedy series.
Other prominent contenders include the horror-comedy “Widow’s Bay” (19 nominations), the science fiction drama “Pluribus” (18 nominations), and the second season of “Feud” (16 nominations).
Nominees for Best Drama Series include projects such as “The Diplomat”, “The Gilded Age”, “The Knight of Seven Kingdoms”, “Paradise”, “Pitt”, “Pluribus”, “Slow Horses”, and “Friends and Neighbors”.
In the category of Best Comedy Series, the title contenders are “Abbott Elementary”, “The Bear”, “Hacks”, “Margot’s Money Woes”, “Nobody Wants This”, “Only Murders in the Building”, “Therapy”, and “Widow’s Bay”.
Special mention goes to Sarah Pidgeon, who received her first Emmy nomination for her role in “American Love Story”, for which she competes for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Movie.
