A new Gucci exhibition dedicated to the Bamboo 1947 bag has opened in Shanghai. This accessory’s uniqueness lies in its bamboo handles.
The project traces the product’s history, design evolution, and cultural significance. The exhibition is located in the historic Sunke Villa in the city center.
“The Shanghai exhibition aims to provide an unprecedented opportunity to dive into the brand’s archives and explore the history of the house through the prism of one of its most iconic pieces,” said Ippolito Pestellini, curator of the exhibition and founder of the interdisciplinary agency 2050+.
The exhibition is spread over seven separate halls on two floors. Visitors will also see hanging installations made of bamboo, which pay tribute to the symbolic origin and connection with Chinese culture.
Chinese celebrities, brand ambassadors, and guest stars attended the exhibition’s grand opening. They appeared on the red carpet in outfits from the Gucci fashion house’s latest collections.
Everyone can visit the exhibition from April 1 to 6 at Villa Sunke in the center of the metropolis.
