A shooting took place near Trump's golf club in Florida, but he is safe

A shooting occurred near the golf club of the US Republican presidential candidate, former President Donald Trump, in Florida.

This was reported by The Washington Post and Reuters.

Trump was not injured and is currently safe, his campaign headquarters said. However, no details have been officially provided.

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., said, citing local law enforcement, that an AK-47 assault rifle was found in the bushes and that one suspect was detained.

The Secret Service said the incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. local time. The Secret Service and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating the shooting and “will have more details shortly.”

The White House said President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were informed of the incident and were “relieved to learn that Trump is safe.”

Later, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office in Florida reported that the suspect in the shooting near Trump’s golf club had been arrested and taken into custody. Law enforcement officers stopped him in his car and blocked the highway in Martin County.
