Transgender American actress Hunter Schafer, known for the TV series Euphoria, shared on TikTok that she received a passport with a gender change after the start of Donald Trump’s presidential term.
Schaefer lost the document while filming in Barcelona. Her bag was stolen during a car break-in. The actress applied for a new passport and asked to be listed as a woman, but her request was denied.
That’s because, on the first day of his presidency, Trump signed a decree requiring that only the sex of a person at birth be recognized. In Shafer’s case, it was male. The corresponding gender was entered into the celebrity’s passport.
Schafer admitted that she did not believe she would be issued male documents until it happened.
Schafer is one of the most famous transgender people in the United States. She is currently 26 years old. For about ten years, she has been introducing herself as a woman and using feminine pronouns.
