American actress Kim Novak will receive the highest award at the Venice Film Festival, the Golden Lion, for her significant contribution to cinema.
The festival’s artistic director, Alberto Barbera, called Novak “one of the most beloved idols of an entire era of Hollywood movies.”
“This’ Golden Lion ‘ for life merit honors an emancipated star, a rebel in the heart of Hollywood who lit up the dreams of movie lovers before retiring to his ranch in Oregon to devote herself to painting and her horses,” he added.
It is noted that Novak starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller Vertigo and in films such as Picnic and Bell, Book, and Candle.
