Apple’s website reports that it has introduced a new iPad mini tablet with the A17 Pro chip and Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence (AI) features.
The new iPad mini is equipped with an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display. It is available in four colors, including two new ones – blue and purple. The 12-megapixel rear camera supports Smart HDR 4 technology. The company also announced that the new device’s performance has been improved by the A17 Pro chip.
The Verge called the new device’s presentation “low-key,” noting that this is the first update to Apple’s line of mini-tablets since 2021. The publication pointed out that the mini model in Apple’s tablet lineup has always been “something of a miracle,” similar to the iPhone SE: it has fans, but most users prefer a large screen.
How the stock reacted
Bloomberg reports that after the presentation of the iPad mini, Apple shares rose by 2.7% to $237.49, reaching a historic record.
The agency notes that the rally cemented Apple’s status as the world’s largest company, with a market value of $3.6 trillion for the first time. The stock has risen 37% over the past six months, more than double the 15.5% growth of the Nasdaq 100 index.
