Apple introduced the iPad Air with a powerful M4 chip

Apple announced a new generation of iPad Air tablets. The devices have retained the familiar design, but have improved performance.

The Apple M4 processor contains 8 CPU cores, 9 graphics cores, and a 16-core Neural Engine. According to the developers, multi-core performance has increased by 30% compared to previous-generation models based on the M3. Memory bandwidth has increased from 100 to 120 GB/s, and the minimum RAM required for stable multitasking has increased from 8 to 12 GB.

The introduction of new proprietary communication modules is noted. The tablets are equipped with the Apple N1 wireless chip, which supports the latest Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread smart home protocols. This solution will improve the overall reliability of features such as AirDrop and Tethering, especially when working on 5 GHz networks. Cellular configurations now use a custom Apple C1X modem. The appearance of the gadgets has remained unchanged – they will be available in 11- and 13-inch versions in blue and purple colors, as well as shades of Starlight and Space Gray.

The cost of the 11-inch model in the US starts at $599, and the 13-inch model at $799.

You can pre-order from March 4; open sales will begin on March 11, 2026.
