The filming of the new season of the series “Emily in Paris” was stopped by tragedy. In Venice, while working on the set, assistant director Diego Borella suddenly died. He was only 47 years old.
The incident occurred at the legendary Danieli Hotel, where the team was preparing for the final scene of the fifth season. According to La Repubblica, Borella suddenly fainted and fell to the floor. The doctors who arrived on call tried to resuscitate him, but in vain. The doctors pronounced him dead, initially calling the cause a sudden cardiac arrest.

Paramount Television Studios officially confirmed the death of the assistant director, expressing condolences to his loved ones.
The filming of the series was immediately stopped. However, the team later returned to work: the central star of the series, Lily Collins, along with her colleague Eugenio Franceschini, were spotted in Venice during filming in a water taxi.
Diego Borella was born in Venice. During his career, he worked in Rome, London, and New York. He was involved not only in cinema but also in literature. Colleagues called him a professional and a person who always knew how to support the team.
The fifth season of “Emily in Paris” began filming in May in Rome, continued in Paris, and from August in Venice. The premiere date of the new season, despite the tragedy, has not yet changed and has been announced for December 18, 2025.
