Actor Ben Affleck won the top prize of $1 million on the TV game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Together with “Jeopardy!” champion Jamie Ding, he answered the final question correctly, and the winnings will go to charity.
The money will go to the Eastern Congo Initiative, an organization founded by Affleck that supports residents of the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The final question was about turkeys that were not pardoned by the US president. Not knowing the correct answer, the participants used a hint and turned to host Jimmy Kimmel. He suggested that the correct answer was Spaghetti & Meatball.
After that, Affleck and Ding used another hint – a call to a friend. However, the friend also did not know the answer. Then the actor suggested that they trust the host’s version.
“I’d bet on Jimmy. I’d take a chance,” Affleck said.
The answer was ultimately correct, and the couple won $1 million.
Affleck and Ding became the show’s fifth winners since Jimmy Kimmel took over. Last year, Affleck’s longtime friend and co-star Matt Damon also won the top prize, appearing on the show with “Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings.
