OpenAI is launching ChatGPT Health, a new feature that lets users analyze medical test results and receive diet and exercise recommendations, Bloomberg reports.
The feature will be able to connect to electronic medical records, devices, and apps like Apple Health or MyFitnessPal. OpenAI emphasizes that the service will provide information but not make official diagnoses — it will complement, not replace, doctors.
According to OpenAI’s head of applications, Fiji Simo, doctors can’t always spend time explaining every detail to patients. In contrast, AI can process large amounts of data quickly and easily.
Initially, ChatGPT Health will be available through a waiting list. In the coming weeks, the feature will be opened to a broader range of users. For safety, OpenAI will separate health conversations from other chats and add advanced privacy settings.
Over 200 million people ask ChatGPT health and wellness questions every week. That’s why the company consulted with over 260 doctors over two years to refine its data analytics and personalized advice features.
