Suppose you’ve seen such movies as Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Dune, or Gladiator. In that case, it’s no secret that the music for these films was composed by the legendary composer Hans Zimmer. However, his next work will not be related to cinema, as he will write the national anthem for Saudi Arabia.
At the request of the Advisor to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia, Turki Al-Sheikh, the Oscar-winning Zimmer will create a new arrangement using a variety of instruments. In addition, a musical piece, “Arabia,” is planned and inspired by Saudi Arabia’s” culture and traditions. It will also become a modern anthem for the country and contain authentic motifs.
It is reported that changing the anthem is also part of the country’s image renewal. According to activists, this also attempts to weaken the harsh regime and gradually move away from the monarchy.
