Elton John, a 77-year-old British rock musician, has been awarded the honorary title of “Icon of the Year” by Time magazine. The singer was honored for his 60-year music career, 50 which he spent on stage.
According to the publication, Elton has created many hits during this time. Thus, 57 of his tracks topped the world music charts, and he has several Oscar and Tony statuettes for soundtracks to Disney cartoons and Broadway musicals. The celebrity is also a Grammy winner.
