British bank HSBC is considering appointing a woman as CFO for the first time in its 159-year history, Bloomberg reports, citing sources.
60-year-old director of risk management and compliance Pam Kaur is considered a favorite for the position of CFO.
The position became vacant after Georges Elhedery replaced Noel Quinn as CEO of Europe’s largest bank on September 2.
Other potential candidates are Greg Guyett, head of global banking and markets; Willard McLean, group head of strategy and corporate development; and Kavita Mahtani, HSBC’s chief financial officer for Europe and Western markets.
A final decision has yet to be made.
