Actress Eva Longoria has announced that she will donate $1 million to help those affected by the fires.
However, according to TMZ, the 49-year-old star will not donate her own money but part of the courage and humanitarianism award the actress received from Jeff Bezos last March. The award is worth $50 million, and Longoria plans to spend the rest of the prize on charity over ten years.
The celebrity’s donation is intended for the Julián Castro Latin American Public Foundation and the California Public Foundation.
The $1 million meets the immediate and long-term needs of people who lost everything in the Los Angeles fires, which destroyed over 12,000 buildings.
