The French parliament has approved a ban on disposable e-cigarettes, making it the second European country after Belgium to have such a restriction. The parliamentary TV channel LCP reported this.
The law prohibits the sale of e-cigarettes with colored packaging and different flavors, which are especially popular among young people, and the free distribution of vaping devices. Violation of the ban will result in a €100,000 fine.
French MPs, citing a study commissioned by the Alliance Against Tobacco, said that 15% of children aged 13 to 16 have already tried disposable cigarettes.
The parliament also said that disposable e-cigarettes often contain nicotine, which is addictive and particularly dangerous for young people, especially children.
Soon, this ban will be extended to include nicotine sachets, which are shaped like a small pillow and are inserted between the lip and gum.
