Global chip sales hit a record $55 billion in September

The SIA Association reports that global chip sales reached a record $55.3 billion in September 2024, up 4.1 percent from $53.1 billion in August 2024.

Global semiconductor sales amounted to $166 billion in the third quarter of 2024, up 23.2% from the third quarter of 2023 and 10.7% from the second quarter of 2024.

According to him, sales in September reached the highest monthly figure in the market’s history due to 46.3% annual growth in both Americas.

The United States became the largest chip market ($17.24 billion), overtaking China with $16.04 billion. China’s chip sales revenue added 22.9%, second only to the Americas. Last year, China was ahead of the United States regarding revenue from chip sales in its territory.

Europe saw chip revenue drop 8.2% to $4.43 billion, while Japan added 7.7% to $4.21 billion. Asia-Pacific is the third largest macro-region in the SIA classification, combined with all other countries (except China and Japan). In September, revenue in this region increased by 18.4% to $13.4 billion.
