Google has introduced significant updates to its AI Mode, allowing users to track flight prices, book hotels, and view costs in points or miles, the company announced on Thursday. This development positions AI Mode as a more interactive travel assistant, moving beyond simple information retrieval to actively managing aspects of trip planning.
Users can now specify their travel details, including destination and dates, and AI Mode will provide the best available options from over 300 airlines and travel sites. For those who prefer to monitor prices before booking, the feature allows users to request tracking for specific flights, sending email notifications if prices change.
Flight price tracking is now accessible in more than 180 countries, expanding the tool’s utility for international travelers. In addition to flights, AI Mode facilitates hotel bookings by allowing users to share their travel plans and preferences, generating a list of suitable accommodations complete with reviews and essential details.
Once users identify a preferred hotel, they can proceed with the booking directly through AI Mode. The tool integrates with various hotel chains and travel platforms, enabling users to select their room, review cancellation policies, and finalize their reservation using Google Pay. The actual booking and customer service will be managed by the respective hotel or platform.
The hotel booking feature is currently rolling out in the United States, with English support, and will soon include offerings from major providers such as Booking.com, Expedia, Hilton, and Marriott, among others.
Furthermore, AI Mode now allows users to inquire about travel costs in terms of points or miles. For example, users can ask for options to fly from Atlanta to Miami using American Airlines miles, receiving information on the required mileage for available flights. This update is now available globally.
