HBO has cast actors to play Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the Harry Potter series

Young actors Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will play Harry, Hermione, and Ron in the new HBO series about Harry Potter. According to the plan, the show will cover at least a decade. This was reported by Deadline magazine.

32 thousand children applied for the three main roles. The search for actors lasted several months. The casting took place via open invitation. As of April, children aged 9 to 11 years old living in the UK or Ireland were looking for roles.

The series’ creators emphasized inclusivity and diversity – they did not consider the candidates’ ethnicity, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, or gender identity. The first round asked for two videos: one with a short speech or poem and the other with a story about themselves and a loved one, friend, or pet.

McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout are preparing for filming, which will begin this summer at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, a suburb of London. The first season is scheduled to premiere in 2026. All three are new to television: McLaughlin starred in the upcoming BBC series Gifted, and Stanton played Matilda in Matilda The Musical in the West End.
