The CEO of Instagram said that starting next year, the company’s employees should return to working in offices for a full workweek. This is reported by Engadget, citing an internal letter from Adam Mosseri.
Starting on February 2, 2026, Instagram employees will be required to spend 5 days a week in the office.
This will primarily apply to employees from the United States. In the internal letter, Mosseri noted that employees will be able to work remotely only “when necessary.” Management calls for “common sense” about when to stay home.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, many technology companies have adopted hybrid work models. For example, in 2023, Meta required employees to spend at least 3 days a week in the office.
However, in recent years, the trend has shifted towards stricter rules.
In a letter, Instagram’s CEO acknowledged that the decision to return to a full-fledged office format may be unpopular and announced changes that should make work less bureaucratic.
Instagram will reduce the number of regular meetings; recurring meetings will be automatically canceled every 6 months unless deemed critically necessary. The team will prepare presentation “decks” less often and show live product prototypes more often. The decision-making process will be promised to be faster.
