Instagram has launched a new feature that enables users to add posts they are tagged in directly to their profile grid. This update, aims to provide users with greater control over their profiles.
While not a revolutionary change, many users will likely find this feature beneficial. Often, after social events, users discover that friends have posted memorable group photos tagging them, leaving them with the dilemma of whether to repost the same image.
With this new option, users can easily add tagged posts from the direct message notification they receive, directly from the post itself, or via their Tagged tab. If they later decide to remove the post from their profile, they can do so without affecting the original post.
The original post remains intact, ensuring that adding it to the grid does not delete or duplicate the content. Users can remove it from their profile at any time while still retaining it in their Tagged tab.
This feature is particularly advantageous for creators collaborating on projects, allowing them to showcase tagged content without needing to repost or use the ‘Invite collaborators’ feature. It also benefits brand campaigns that involve multiple creators wanting to highlight shared content.
The update is part of Instagram’s ongoing efforts to enhance user control over profile aesthetics. In June, the platform introduced the ‘Reorder your grid’ feature, allowing users to rearrange their main profile content.
Additionally, Instagram has been rolling out new tools to simplify content creation and management. One notable addition is ‘First Draft,’ which automatically trims selected video clips and removes pauses, creating a polished initial cut. Another new tool, ‘Replace Audio,’ allows users to update the music on existing posts at any time.
